snapped back to reality...

I had a great weekend with Ross, and all too soon, he's back in ottawa and I returned to work.

He brought his son down with him, he's a great kid and we got along really well. He even hugged me out of nowhere, and more than once, so that's a good sign that he likes me and isn't threatened by my presence. My nephew came for the weekend as well to keep ross' son "I" company. They got along great with only minor hissy fits. So all in all the weekend was a success.

I'm already missing Ross and I suspect I will miss him more and more as time goes on. The only good thing is that I am back to my part-time line so I get more weekends off.

Which of course means more time to visit each other.

the word for today is "brainfart"

I'm on an education day today at work, getting my CPR recertification, and glucometer recert... If I had read my email confirmation carefully, I would have seen that it doesn't start until 8am instead of 7am... Which inturn would have meant an extra hour of sleep for me.
So here I sit in my car having a smoke and updating my blog while I wait for 8am.
I'm retarded to say the least. I work on the floor from 3-7PM.
This reminds me of daylight savings when I forgot to put back my clock and showed up to work at 6am instead of 7am....

Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come as I turn 30... Memory loss and brainfarts aplenty.

deja vu

My dad broke some news to me yesterday that sent me kind of reeling. Apparently his girlfriend has a growth in her brain and has to have surgery in three weeks. I'm trying to stay positive and hope for the best, but I can't help thinking about my step mom who passed away four years ago from cancer. A lot of emotions are dwelling up and flowing out of me thinking about her, and the others I lost not too long ago. I hope like hell this doesn't turn out the same way it did for my step mom. Dad would be devastated again, and since my dad and I are very close, what effects him also effects me deeply.

Here is hoping all turns out well.

burning the candle at both ends

I've been working like a fiend the last week and my only day off next week is Tuesday, until next weekend. I've been working out at the gym this week also, and I'm heading back tommorrow morning before work.... My prediction is I drop dead Friday morning.

Other than work, I've been busy planning a weekend in ottawa for my 30th birthday with a few friends. We're taking my dads convertible up and plan on staying with an old friend of mine from highschool. We're going to bar 56 on the Saturday, which I've heard is pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to the celebration, Although I'm not too thrilled about turning "dirty thirty". Anyhow, I should try and get some sleep...

The words "clever not beautiful" come from a hawksley workman song, and has become somewhat of a mantra for me. As I get older, (not that 30 is old) I see what is really important in life. Certainly being beautiful would be nice, but to be honest I would much rather be clever and witty... What would I have to talk about when I'm older and not so fresh-faced?? To me intelligence and wit are two of the main things I look for when choosing friends/boyfriends.... A pretty face is nice to look at but beauty fades, cleverness and wit tend to last forever. So I guess I'm just offering a small word of advice: be clever, not beautiful.

new beginnings.... again

Blogging used to be an everyday occurance in my life. I figured it was about time I started doing it again.

I've moved to kingston after a much needed break up and have found my feet again. A great weight is off my shoulders and I am so much happier.

I've reconnected with a couple of long lost friends and it feels good. I'm trying my best to evolve into the kind of person I've always wanted to be, but in the past have let insecurity and doubt beat me down.

Anyhow, it will be nice to have an outlet again without burdening my friends with late night phonecalls and incessant text messages.

I'm waiting for Gish to arrive for a visit, its been a couple of years, and I'm sure there will non-stop talking the next couple of days.

Phase one of my new and hopefully improved life is underway. One important lesson I've learned is that sometimes second chances are worth the risk.

God I'm so not used to spilling my guts but I guess its part of growing. I'll do my best not to make anyone puke.
