why is it so hard to keep my house clean when it's only me and the dogs??

even when i have company over, it's not like they're destroying my place... it is never ending!

i don't know how you people with kids friggin' do it.

i'm going white water rafting on thursday....

that is all.

so i've been in the house exactly three weeks and i've already spent hundreds of dollars... just over a thousand actually.

only on necessities.. not on anything decorative, or things that i want vs. need.

i spent another $250 today on a dehumidifier. much needed though. with all the rain and humidity i had some mold starting to grow on my baseboards in the basement. so i filled up a bucket with bleach and water and scrubbed them down, and dad ran me over to canadian tire.

blasted costs!!

i haven't even made my first mortgage payment yet...

i've been told the costs will start to dwindle after the first couple years of owning a house. lets hope!! sheesh.

so i'm almost done unpacking my house. i'll take some pics and post them later once i am finished... i still have lots of things i want to do around here so it will be a work in progress, but aren't most first houses?

i'm really anxious to paint, but i'll probably wait until the fall once all my major purchases are through and i get back on track and save up some money.

i've been waking up really early in the morning the last few days. i don't know if it's because i'm eager to get more stuff unpacked, or because my bedroom faces the rising sun.... and the fact that i don't have any curtains.

in any case, i've been pretty productive considering i've had to unpack everything by myself. everything goes quicker when you have help....

the one downfall for having only nurse friends here is that everyone works shift work, and it's hard to find a common day off, and someone who isn't busy themselves to come and lend a hand.

the dogs are loving the backyard, especially stella who now can just run out the door without having to be leashed and walked down three flights of stairs.... i have a little outdoor leash thingy for gracie which is about 10 feet long so she can walk around fairly free and i don't have to hold her leash the whole time. that girl takes forever to do her business.... whereas stella goes on command.

yep, i tell her to pee and she pees. same with number two. my dad is still baffled by that one.

speaking of dear old dad... he came over the other day and hooked up my washer and dryer and i am loving it! it is truly the greatest thing about owning a house.. not having to pay for laundry, or wait for a machine to be available.... and no time limit... i might just do laundry everyday!

i am aware, the novelty will wear off.... but for now... WEEEEEEEEE.

the humidity has been killer the last couple of days and it's just going to get worse. j'm two blocks from lake ontario though.. so when a breeze comes through it is really nice and cool and refreshing.

if i get all this unpacking done early i might take the girls for a swim.. i should check the e.coli levels first though... don't need the girls throwing up all over my place... LOL.

i really wish people would update their blogs more often.... *cough* hint hint *cough*

today is the day i get the keys to my new house.....

and i've been throwing up and had diarrhea..

no it's not nerves, i have the flu. this is just great.

well i started my new job this week on the forensic unit.... even though i've been a nurse for 9 years now.. everything seems completely new to me.

there are so many rules and regulations to learn, and all kinds of paperwork i've never done before. it feels like working at a jail, but having to nurse at the same time..

so i need to learn two jobs.. not just one.

obviously i can't go into detail because of confidentiality issues.

and this morning i am meeting with the lawyer to sign my life away. i get my house in less than a week and feel completely overwhelmed. i still have stuff to pack but am not going to have it done by saturday. i'm working nights next week and i'm going up to ottawa for the weekend.

i didn't go last weekend because i still had lots of packing to do, so i'm taking a much needed weekend to just relax and have fun.

anyway, this is short but i have to be at the lawyers in an hour.

packing is a pain in the ass!

i am packing up my apartment hopefully for the last time for a very long time. you'd think i'd be used to it by now, having moved well over 25 times in my life... but it boils down the same everytime... it's a pain in the ass. i feel the most sorry for my dogs who are being squeezed into a tiny area in my living room for all the boxes that are piling up.

i don't remember having this much stuff... but i guess i do. i've even purged myself of a lot of things... but i guess not enough.

i can't wait to get moved in and settled.
